กระแสคลั่งเกาหลี เริ่มจากละครทีวี นำทีมโดย Full House Winter Sonato และ แดจังกึม ที่พาเหรดเข้าสู่ประเทศไทย ซื้งตอนนั้น หลายคนคิดว่ามันเป็นเพียงความบังเอิญ ..ดัง...เหมือนยุคที่ละครชุดจากฮ่องกงและจีนฮอตฮิตในบ้านเรา หารู้ไม่ว่า มันคือการวางแผนมาอย่างเป็นระบบและขั้นตอน เพราะอุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์เกาหลี ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากรัฐบาล ผู้สร้างต้องผลิดภาพยนตร์ตามกฎเกณฑ์ที่กำหนดไว้อย่างเคร่งครัด ผลคือ เราจะเห็นว่า ในหนังและละครล้วนสอดแทรกเรื่องราวของวัฒนธรรมบวกภฺมิทัศน์อันงดงามลงไป นอกจากจะอินไปกับพล๊อตและความหล่อ ที่แปลกตาของนักแสดง คนดูก็ได้ซืมซับความเป็นเกาหลีทั้งด้านภาษา อาหารการกิน ไปจนถึงชุดฮันบก การโฆษณาแผงที่มาพร้อมโปรดักชั่นสวยงาม ทำให้รู้สึกตัวอีกที คนไทยก็ ..มีใจ..ให้เกาหลีไปโขแล้ว

K-POP ผู้สร้างปรากฎการณ์
จากซีรี่และดารา นำไปสู่ดนตรีที่เข้าถึงได้ง่ายดายสะดวกสบายกว่า แล้วเราก็ได้รู้จักกับคำว่า เค ป๊อป และนักร้องที่ได้รับคำจำกัดความว่า เค ไอดอล และนี่เองคือผู้สร้างปรากฎการณ์อย่างที่ไม่เคยเกิดขี้นมาก่อน นำขบวนโดย Rain..TVXQ Super Junior Wonder Girls SS501 และอีกมากมายหลากหลายที่ทยอยแจ้งเกิดกันไม่ต่ำกว่าเดือยนละ 2 วง

เค ไอดอล เหล่านี้มีจุดร่วมเหมือนกันคือ หน้าดาดี ร้องเพลงดี เต้นเก่ง เมื่อรวมกับโปรดักชั่นอลังการ จัดเต็มทั้งเสื้อผ้า หน้าผม ภาพลักษณ์ ความสวยงาม ของเอ็มวี และการแสดงบนเวที มันจังกลายเป็นความแปลกใหม่และแตกต่างอย่างที่หาได้ไม่มากนักจากศิลปินไทย

นี่เองคือสาเหตุหนึ่งของอาการคลั่งไคล้ เค ไอดอล ของเด็กไทย ซึ่งจะว่าไปก็ไม่ได้แตกต่างจากเหตุผลของคนไทยบางกลุ่มที่ชอบดนตรีสากล หรือญี่ปุ่น แต่เหตุผลที่
..ความชอบ..ของเหล่าสาวก เค ป๊อป กลายเป็น ความคลั่งไคล้...นั้น เราต้องยกเครดิต ให้การขับเคลื่อนอย่างมีจุดมุ่งหมาย และพร้อมเพรียง ทั้งระบบอุตสาหกรรมบันเทิงเกาหลี แผนการตลาด อันยอดเยี่ยม บวกเทคโนโลยี่อินเทอร์เน็ต ทั้งยูทูป และโซเชียลเน็ตเวิร์กต่าง ๆ...

สุดยอด แผนการตลาด การสร้างความใกล้ชิดและผูกพัน
แล้วเหตุใด เคไอดอล จึงต้องทำงานหนักหามรุ่งหามค่ำขนาดนี้ ก็เพื่อสร้าง..ความใกล้ชิดสนิทสนม..ผ่านช่องทางต่าง ๆ เรื่องการจัดงานแจกลายเซ็นหรือขี้นเวทีพบปะแฟน ๆ นั้น ศิลปินบ้านเมืองไหนในโลกเขาก็ทำกัน แต่รับประกันว่าไม่มีใครจัดถี่และบ่อยได้เท่า เค ไอดอล และสิ่งที่มีแต่ เค ไอดอล เท่านั้นที่ทำได้คือ การเดินสายทำงานบันเทิงทุกแขนง ตั้งแต่งานหลักอย่างร้องเพลง เล่นละคร เล่นหนัง เล่นละครเวที เป็นพรีเซนเตอร์สินค้า ออกรายการทีวี รายการวิทยุ ไปจนถึงรายการเรียลลิตี้ที่มีตั้งแต่ ทอล์คโชว์ ตามติดชีวิตประจำวัน และออกไปทำภารกิจตามแต่จะได้รับมอบหมาย

ถ้าคุณรู้ว่า รายการบันเทิงของเกาหลีมีมากมาย มหาศาลขนาดไหน คุณจะไม่แปลกใจว่า ทำไม ไอดอลจึงไม่ได้หลับได้นอน ลองหาดูเถอะจะ Star King, Running Man,Invincible Youth, Family Outing, Win Win, Radio Star, Strong Heart, Drea Team, We Got Married และรายการพิเศษตามแต่จะคิดขี้นมา ล้วนมีไอดอลเป็นเอ็มซีบ้าง แขกประจำบ้าง แขกรับเชิญบ้าง ทุกรายการไป

แต่ละรายการก็ช่างสรรหารูปแบบ และการนำเสนอที่ไม่ธรรมดา มีท้งเชิญมาคุยกันเฉย ๆ แต่เจาะลึกเรื่องลับ ๆ ที่เราไม่เคยรู้ มีท้งให้ออกไปทำภาระกิจ ทำให้เราได้เห็นอีกแง่มุมของไอดอล เมื่อได้ดูรายการเหล่านี้มาก ๆ ได้เห็นแง่มุมที่ดูเป็นมนุษย์ปุถุชนของไอดอลบ่อย ๆ มันก็นำไปสู่ความรัก เอ็นดู ผูกพัน คุ้นเคย ทำนองเดียวกับเวลาเราดูรายการเรียลลีตี้ที่พอได้เห็นความน่ารัก น่าสงสาร ความดี ความตลก ความสนุก ความรั่ว..พูดง่าย ๆคือได้เห็น..สิ่งที่เราคิดว่ามันคือ..ตัวตนของพวกเขา เราก็จะเริ่มผูกพันกับพวกเขามากกว่าการเป็นแค่แฟนคลับกับศิลปิน ..นี่คือการตลาดแบบง่าย ๆ แต่ได้ผลมาก...เพราะเราถูกป้อนข้อมูลเหล่านี้ตลอดเวลา เมื่อเทียบกับศิลปินสากลที่เราจะเห็นหน้านักร้องก็ต่อเมื่อพวกเขาออกอัลบัมใหม่ และที่เห็นก็มักเป็นการมาออกรายการวาไรตี้ ประเภททอล็คโชว์ นั่งคุยถามตอบที ก็เน้นไปที่การทำงานเสียมากกว่า

ผลลัพธ์ของสิ่งที่...ผ่านการคิดค้น...ในลักษณะองค์รวมทั้งระบบ โดยการสนับสนุนของรับาลที่ส่งออกวัฒนธรรมบันเทิง เป็นสินค้าหลักของประเทศ ประสบความสำเร็จอย่างงดงาม ไม่เพียงแค่เฉพาะประเทศไทย แม้แต่ญี่ปุ่น ที่ขี้นชื่อว่าชาตินิยมสูงที่สุด .....

มองกันในแง่นี้ บางทีสาวก เค ป๊อป ในบ้าสเราควรภุมิใจที่เป็นชาติแรก ๆ ที่อินเทรนด์กระแส เค ป๊อป ก่อนมนุษย์อีกเกือบทั้งโลก...

Before filming <SR>, it was while I was at the Berlin Film Festival in February of that year when I started appreciating the charm of Rain. This big kid who just filmed his very first movie seemed to gain more public attention than the famous Korean director Park Chan-wook; he even became a part of the circle of the best actors around. Rain came to Berlin to promote for a few days and left shortly after because of his preparation for the Shanghai concert. After he left on the 2nd day I bumped into Song Hye-kyo; while we chit-chatted we even talked about him.
ก่อนหน้าที่จะมีการถ่ายทำหนังเรื่อง สปีด เรซเซอร์ ตัวชั้นได้ไปร่วมงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์ที่เบอลิน ตอนเดือนกุมภาฯ ก็เป็นตอนที่ชั้นเริ่มหลงเสน่ในตัวเค้าแล้วหละ พ่อเด็กตัวยักษ์คนที่เพิ่งผ่านการถ่ายทำหนังเรื่องแรกในชีวิต ดูจะได้รับความสนใจมากกว่าผู้กำกับคนดังอย่าง ปั๊ก ชาน วุ๊ก ซะอิกนะ ยิ่งกว่านั้นเค้ายังดูเหมือนเหล่านักแสดงชายยอดเยี่ยมอิกด้วย เรนกลับไปในวันที่ 2ของงาน เพราะเค้าต้องเดินทางไปเซี่ยงไฮ้เพื่อจัดเตรียมคอนเสิร์ต ชั้นยังได้เจอซอง เฮ เคียวด้วยนะเราชนกันในงานน่ะ แล้วก็ยังได้คุยกันเกี่ยวกับเรนด้วยหละ


Half a year later when we met at the movie studio in Berlin, the reserved Asian side of me caused an awkward moment between me and Rain, not knowing how to greet one another, just a simple "Hi".
ครึ่งปีต่อมา ชั้นได้เจอเรนอีกครั้งที่สตูดิโอในเบอลิน ตรงส่วนที่เปนที่พักของนักแสดงชาวเอเชีย ซึ่งมันช่างทำให้บรรยากาศระหว่างชั้นกะเรนเนี่ยดูอึดอัดชอบกล เพราะไม่รุ็ว่าจะพูดอะไรกันน่ะ เราเลยแค่ทักกันไปว่า "หวัดดี"


It wasn't until break time after the shooting of the 1st match scene when I 'launched an attack upon my own initiative'. "Hi, I'm Yu Nan." I never thought that the single-eyelid, boyish-faced person before me would reply so sincerely, "Hi, I'm Rain, I recognize you! Mr. Park (Park Chan-wook) always told me how amazing <Tuya's Wedding> is, where can I see that movie?"
มันดำเนินไปอย่างนั้น จนกระทั่งช่วงพักหลังจากที่เราได้เข้าฉากด้วยกันเป็นครั้งแรก ชั้นเลยเปิดบทการสนทนาก่อน "หวัดดี ชั้นชื่อ ยู นานนะ" แล้วชั้นก็ไม่ได้คาดว่า อิตาคนที่มีตาชั้นเดียว แถมยังหน้าเด็กคนนี้น่ะจะตอบชั้นกลับมาอย่างใสซื่อว่า "หวัดดี ผมเรนครับ ผมจำคุณได้ด้วยหละ ผู้กำกับปั๊กน่ะ บอกกะผมตลอดเลยนะว่าหนังเรื่อง <Tuya's Wedding> (ยู นานคงแสดงเรื่องนี้หละ) เนี่ยสุดยอดมากๆ เอ่อผมพอจะไปหาดูได้ที่ไหนครับ"

Rain's speaking voice is very cute, very lively, unlike when he sings and it sounds so manly. Before going to Berlin I got one of my friends to download some songs onto my i-Pod. Don't know whether my friend did it intentionally or not, but there were a few songs that were of Rain. So when I was getting my make-up done I hooked my music up to a portable player and played the music aloud. As the play list went on, pretty soon it came to a track with a prelude of "I'm Back, It's Rain...". At this point Rain, who was sitting nearby me getting his make-up done, suddenly turned around and shyly pointed to the portable player and said to me, "That voice is me." And there I was, originally being playful but then started feeling slightly uneasy, I started laughing hard.
เสียงพูดของเรนน่ะ น่ารักมากเลย ดูมีชีวิตชีวาเลยนะ ไม่เหมือนกับตอนที่เค้าร้องเพลงหรอก เสียงที่ร้องเพลงน่ะมานเป็นเสียงทุ้มๆหล่อๆแบบผู้ชาย อ้อก่อนที่ชั้นจะเดินทางไปเบอลินชั้นขอให้เพื่อนคนนึงของชั้นช่วยโหลดเพลงใส่ iPod ให้ชั้นหน่อย ชั้นก็ไม่รุหรอกว่าเพื่อนชั้นจะเอาเพลงสากลมาใส่ไว้บ้างรึป่าว แต่ว่าก็มีอยู่ 2-3 เพลงที่เปนของเรน พอตอนที่ชั้นแต่งหน้าเสร็จแล้วน่ะชั้นก็เลยงัดเอา iPod ของชั้นมาเปิดกับเครื่องเล่นซะเสียงดังเลย เครื่องเล่นก็เล่นไปตามรายชื่อเพลงอะนะ จนมาถึงเพลงนึงที่มีเสียงขึ้นต้นว่า ..."I'm back, It's Rain..." พอมาถึงตรงนี้ เรนที่นั่งแต่งหน้าอยู่ข้างๆชั้นและกำลังจะเสร็จพอดี หันมาทางเครื่องเล่นขวับเลยแล้วก็ชี้ไปที่เครื่องเล่นน่ะแล้วบอกว่า "นั่นเสียงผมนี่" ซึ่งตอนแรกเลยเนี่ยแค่อยากจะล้อเล่น แต่มันก็เริ่มจะไงไม่รุแล้วหละ ชั้นก็เลยหัวเราะออกมาซะยกใหญ่เลย(แบบประมาณให้บรรยากาศมันดีขึ้นน่ะ)

When I look at Rain act I can then understand what is called 'self-confidence'. His experience in movies are not bountiful but he is rich in on-stage performances, so even when his acting would not turn out too smoothly, he still did it very well. Based on our impressions big stars who are singers can also act rather well, just like how Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui were, isn't that so? (Deb's note: they were big stars in HK particularly in the 80s and 90s)

When rehearsing with Rain, it doesn't matter who's leading who, it just feels like family, no sense of distance. Sometimes before we begin shooting, the lines instructor whom Rain and I 'share' would say to me, "I noticed just now that Rain's a little nervous." As soon as he stands in front of the green screen, his performance is absolutely 1st-class, he uses self-confidence to conceal any anxiety. But this does not hinder his earnestness. In between shooting you will see him sitting in the corner by himself, repeating and memorizing his English lines word-for-word.
ตอนที่ได้ซ้อมการแสดงกะเรนเนี่ย เราไม่รู้สึกเลยนะว่าใครจะรับบทนำรึบทตาม แต่เราจะรู้สึกถึงความเป็นพี่น้องมากกว่า ไม่มีช่องว่างเลยหละ บางครั้งก่อนที่เราจะเริ่มถ่ายทำกัน จะมีคนบอกบทซึ่งเป็นผู้ช่วยของชั้นกับเรนในเรื่องนี้เข้ามาคุยกับชั้นว่า "ชั้นเพิ่งสังเกตุนะว่า เรนเนี่ยก็มีอาการประหม่านิดๆ" แล้วจากนั้นพอเค้าต้องไปแสดงกับฉากสีเขียว เค้ากลับทำมันออกมาได้ดีมากเลยนะ นี่แหละที่เค้าเอาความมั่นใจในตัวเองมาลบความประหม่าออกไปน่ะ แต่นี่ก็ไม่ได้ทำให้เค้าลดความพยายามตั้งใจลงไปหรอก เพราะว่าระหว่างถ่ายทำกันเนี่ยคุณจะเห็นว่าเรนจะแอบไปนั่งตรงมุมห้อง แล้วก็นั่งท่องบทภาษาอังกฤษของเค้าอยู่

For both of us this was our first Hollywood movie, even with so many big-name stars on location like Susan Sarandon, John Goodman and Christina Ricci, there were no assistants. Everyone served themselves during meals, even shooting scenes on the streets required no bodyguards. Sometimes in the afternoons everyone would sit by the river eating pizza. It was just me and Rain who each had a single-staff entourage to handle contractual businesses.
มันเป็นหนังฮอลลีวูดเรื่องแรกของเราทั้งคู่นะคะ แล้วก็มีดาราดังๆทั้งนั้นเลยอย่างเช่น ซูซาน ซาแรนดอน, จอร์น กุ๊ดแมน, คริสติน่า ริชชี่ แล้วแม้ว่าพวกเค้าจะดังขนาดไหนนะแต่เค้าก็ไม่มีผู้ช่วยกันเลยนะ ทุกคนต้องดูแลตัวเองหาอาหารทานกันเอง และแม้ตอนที่เราออกไปถ่ายทำกันนอกสถานที่ก็ไม่ต้องมีบอดีการ์ด บางครั้งนะยามบ่ายๆทุกคนเนี่ยก็จะมีนั่งทานพิซซ่ากันที่ริมแม่น้ำ นะก็เลยมีแต่ชั้นกับเรนนี่แหละที่ต้องมีผู้ช่วยตามประกบ ซึ่งก็เป็นเพราะว่าเค้าต้องมาช่วยเราดูเรื่องรายละเอียดสัญญาน่ะ


*He Is A Superstar As Well As A Kid* เค้าเป็นทั้งซุเปอร์สตาร์แล้วก็เด็กในเวลาเดียวกัน

Rain is really a big kid! He always said how much he thought of Asia, how much he wanted to eat Korean food. I told him that there was a Korean family-style restaurant in Berlin that wasn't too bad. A few days later in the hotel lobby he said to me, "I went to eat at that place you recommended, the kimchi there is not made in its original way, today I found an even better place!"
เรนน่ะก็เป็นเด็กที่ตัวโตๆคนนึงนี่แหละ เค้าจะบ่นคิดถึงบ้านเสมอๆเลยค่ะ แล้วก็ยังบ่นอยากทานอาหารเกาหลีอีกด้วย ชั้นก็เลยบอกเค้าไปว่าเนี่ยมีร้านอาหารเกาหลีสไตล์โฮมเมดในเบอลินอยู่ที่นึงนะ รสชาติไม่เลวเลยหละ จากนั้น 2-3 วันตรงลอบบี้โรงแรม เค้าเดินเข้ามาบอกชั้นว่า "ผมไปทานร้านที่คุณแนะนำมาแล้วหละ แต่ว่าวิธีการทำกิมจิของเค้าน่ะ ไม่ใช่แบบดั้งเดิมนะ วันนี้ผมไปเจออีกร้านนึงมาหละ อร่อยกว่าร้านนั้นอีก"


One time I asked him, "Do you know how to speak Chinese?" What I eventually heard was "Hi everyone, I'm Rain, hope everyone likes me!" (Deb's note: he's speaking in Mandarin at this point) I laughed as these were things that he had to learn for the concert. Suddenly he just looked at me intently, "Do people actually like me in China?" I quickly answered him, "You are HUGE in China!" He smiled with great satisfaction, just like a kid.

แต่ตัว Rain เองยังต้องการที่จะเป็นนักแสดงหนุ่ม Jung Jihoon อีกด้วย

ด้วยเหตุนี้เอง บทนักแสดงนำชายในซีรี่ส์เรื่อง Sangdoo, Let's Go to School ทางสถานี KBS จึงตกเป็นของ Rain ในที่สุด ขณะนั้นอยู่ในช่วงฤดูร้อนของปี 2003 ตอนที่นักร้องนักเต้นนาม Rain ได้ก้าวเข้ามาเป็นนักแสดงนามว่า Jung Jihoon

ในฤดูใบไม้ผลิปีเดียวกันนั้นเอง นักร้องหน้าใหม่นาม Rain ได้ชิมลางกับบทนำในละครสั้นชุดพิเศษ “Rain, the Disco King” ซึ่งเป็นมินิซีรี่ส์ที่จะมีนักร้องรับเชิญมากมายมาร่วมแสดง มันเป็นละครจบในตอน แต่จีฮุนได้สร้างความหนักใจขึ้นที่นี่ กรรมการผู้จัดการของ JYPE กล่าวว่า “ทุกคนภาวนาให้จีฮุนแสดงออกมาให้ดีที่สุด และตอนนั้นเราก็ได้เตรียมการให้เค้าได้แสดงซีรี่ส์ด้วย แต่เนื้อหาของซีรี่ส์ส่วนใหญ่มักจะคล้าย ๆ กัน คือจะเกี่ยวกับนักร้องนักเต้น ขณะนั้นชอง จีฮุน ก็ยังคงเป็นนักร้องนักเต้นในนาม Rain อยู่ เรื่อง "Windfighter" ก็เป็นหนึ่งในซีรี่ส์พวกนั้น ซึ่งมันเกือบจะได้เป็นซีรี่ส์เรื่องแรกของจีฮุนไปแล้ว มันเป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับนักเต้นที่สามารถต่อยมวยได้เป็นอย่างดี แต่จีฮุนกลับบอกว่า Sangdoo, Let's Go to School กำลังคอยเค้าอยู่”

คุณลี ผู้เขียนบทละครเรื่อง Sangdoo, Let's Go to School ไม่ได้สนใจ Rain จากมินิซี่รี่ส์ "Rain, The Disco King" แต่กง ฮโย จิน นักแสดงนำหญิงของเรื่องที่ถูกวางตัวไว้ก่อนหน้านั้นแล้วเป็นคนแนะนำให้ Rain มารับบทซางดูนี้ คุณลีกล่าวว่า “ชั้นได้ยินมาด้วยว่าเค้าแสดงได้ดีมาก ๆ แต่ด้วยอคติของชั้นเอง ชั้นมองว่าเค้าเป็นนักร้องที่หันมาเอาดีด้านการเป็นนักแสดง มันก็คงจะดีกว่าในตอนนี้ แต่เมื่อเวลาผ่านไป ผู้คนทั่วไปมักจะไม่ชอบนักร้องที่เล่นละครน่ะค่ะ” และทันทีที่จีฮุนได้รับบทนักแสดงนำ ผู้คนก็เริ่มจับกลุ่มพูดคุยกันว่า ที่ Rain ถูกเลือกให้มารับบทซางดูก็เพราะว่าไม่มีนักแสดงชายคนไหนที่เหมาะสมกับบทนี้นั่นเอง และพวกเค้าก็เฝ้ารอที่จะหัวเราะเยาะกันเลยทีเดียว

คุณลีเผยว่า “จริง ๆ แล้วก็มีเสียงคัดค้านจากภายในทีมโปรดักชั่นของละครเรื่องนี้อยู่เหมือนกัน เพราะการแสดงของจีฮุนไม่ได้ถูกทดสอบต่อหน้าพวกเค้า ซางดูเป็นชายหนุ่มวัย 27 ปี เป็นพ่อของเด็กเล็ก ๆ คนหนึ่ง ในขณะที่จีฮุนอายุเพียง 21 ปีเท่านั้น ทุกคนต่างคิดว่าเราควรจะมองหาใครซักคนที่อยู่ในช่วงอายุ 20 ปลาย ๆ มารับบทนี้” ณ เวลานั้น จีฮุนบอกกับคุณลีว่า “ผมมีความมั่นใจที่จะแสดงบทนี้มาก ๆ ครับ”
